A member of the Neurological Society of Uganda (NSU) shall be a neurosurgeon or medical professional who has completed the admission process and paid the prescribed membership fees. Membership is categorised into several classes, each with its own requirements and privileges.

Full Membership

Full Membership is reserved for certified neurosurgeons who are registered with the Uganda Medical Council or an equivalent authority in their country of practice. These members enjoy the full rights and privileges of the Society, including the ability to vote and hold office.

Associate Membership

Associate Membership is open to medical professionals working in related fields who are not neurosurgeons, as well as neurosurgery residents who are undergoing training in an approved program. Associate Members are encouraged to participate in the Society’s activities, though their voting rights are limited.

Candidate Membership

Candidate Membership is intended for individuals in the early stages of neurosurgery training or fellowship. It allows them to engage with the Society while they continue their professional journey toward certification, preparing them for eventual full membership.

Student & Affiliate Membership

This class of membership is designed for undergraduate medical students and allied health trainees who have an interest in neurosurgery and related fields. Student and Affiliate Members benefit from mentorship, networking, and opportunities for professional growth within the Society.

International Membership

International Membership is available to neurosurgeons who practice outside the East African region. Admission to this class requires the completion of the registration process and payment of the appropriate membership fee. International Members remain an important part of the Society’s global network.

Honorary Membership

Honorary Membership is conferred upon distinguished individuals, not necessarily neurosurgeons, who have made significant contributions to neurosurgery or whose involvement would benefit the Society. Honorary Members are recognised for their impact and are exempt from paying membership fees.

Lifetime Membership

Lifetime Membership is awarded to members in recognition of exceptional service to the Society, or to those who wish to make a one-time payment that secures permanent membership status. This class represents an enduring commitment to the mission and values of NSU.

  • NSU Full membership is UGX 1,000,000/- Anually (Payable before 1st March every year)
  • NSU International Members Pay $ 500
  • NSU Associate Members  pay 300,000/- annually
  • NSU Affiliates pay 100,000/- annually
